Knowledge and Understanding

  • To develop knowledge and understanding of the range and organization of computer systems, and the interrelationships between hardware, software and data; and

Curriculum Features in Methodist College

Junior Secondary Curriculum

A School-based curriculum is designed for Forms 1 to 3. Students will acquire the basic concept of computer systems, basic skills of using application software.

Senior Secondary Curriculum

The curriculum will consist of a compulsory part and an elective part. Our school will offer two electives:
(C) Multimedia Production and Web Site Development and
(D) Software Development.

      NSS ICT (S4-S6)

      Rationale for the curriculum design
      • Learning office automation software, web authoring tools and Internet services in the Information Processing and Internet and its Applications modules can equip students with the necessary knowledge and skill to complete their course work in this and other subjects. Also, these practical skills are essential enabling skills to facilitate studentsˇ¦ self-directed learning. Therefore, these topics will be taught in S4.
      • The knowledge and skills of ICT taught in S4 are transferable to other subjects even if students opt not to study ICT from S5 onwards.
      • In order to give students more understanding of the nature and contents of the two Electives, related modules in the Compulsory Part are taught in S4. This will help students in choosing one of the options as they progress to S5 and S6.
      • Curriculum time for SBA is allocated flexibly and appropriately in S5 and S6, to provide continuous feedback to students to enhance learning effectiveness.

      The electives offered is:

      Elective D: Software Development which focuses on solving problems and developing solutions is suited to students who are problem-solvers and are keen on carrying out projects using computers.
