Operation Santa Claus 2017
Last year, through donation boxes given to each class, our school raised over $6,000 for Operation Santa Claus (OSC), an annual charity event, organized by the South China Morning Post and RTHK.
This year, which is OSC’s 29th anniversary, our school’s English Society Committee members were determined to beat last year’s total. After acquiring some new, attractive and secure donation boxes, our English Society members delivered them daily to each class for one school week, starting on Wednesday, 13 December. Students were excited to know their ranking, both within their own form and among all 24 classes. The winning class, 1R, was awarded a beautiful, delicious Christmas cake, enjoyed during their Christmas party on 21 December. Thanks everyone, for helping Methodist College beat its own record and be a blessing to more than 250 charitable projects OSC supports. Our final total, announced on 20th December, was $9,774.00. As Tiny Tim said in the classic Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol, ''God bless us, everyone.''

’Where’s Santa?’ Tracing Activity
As we all know, Christmas is a time for giving. It is also a time when students are growing quite tired, and in need of a bit of fun before the holidays. Our creative English Society Committee came up with a Christmas tracing activity, hiding symbols of Christmas – two bells heralding the birth of Jesus Christ, with our school colours – all around the school campus. The activity was held for two days, starting on 18 December. Ten prizes were to be awarded, to those students who were lucky and tenacious enough to seek out the symbols. Congratulations to all the winners, but especially to Elaine Lau of 3R, who found six out of the ten prizes!
