53rd Anniversary & Founders’ Day and Graduation & Prize Giving Ceremony
By Wong Oi Man 5W

What a gorgeous day! We all enjoyed celebrating our 53rd Founders’ Day on the 5th November, 2011. The day was held in the Methodist Church, embracing the happiness of all fellow students, teachers and alumni.

It was our great pleasure to have Rev. Yuen Tin Yau, Rev Chan Tak Cheong, Dr& Mrs Hollingworth, Rev& Mrs Senior, Rev& Mrs Franklin – our honorable guests invited, and our principal Miss Emily Wong, participating in this joyful occasion.

The scripture lesson, sermon and prayer from Dr. Hollingworth and Rev Chan highlighted that ‘our life is more important than fortune’. We learned that we should give, and not just earn and save, as much as we could. The lesson was rewarding to everybody.

Miss Emily Wong then delivered her annual school report. She was delighted that students did well in the public examinations and were outstanding in Economics, Biology and Mathematics in particular. She addressed that the school would enhance teaching effectiveness to acknowledge students’ needs on study skills and goal setting. Afterwards, Rev. Geoffrey R. Senior gave his sharing on his life experiences in learning Putonghua and teaching in a Chinese Bible School.

Next was the presentation of certificates and prizes to the graduates and students who achieved outstanding performance. Also there was the presentation of long service prizes to the teachers and non-teaching staffs who had contributed to our school for more than either 15 years or 20 years.

After the Choir and Orchestra performance, we sang the college song and Rev. J. Michael Franklin gave the benediction. The jubilant ceremony surely left us fond memories with laughter, tears and applauses.

Address by Rev.Geoffrey R. Senior (Superisor, Chaplain & Teacher 1974 - 81), guest-of-honour
